SELWYN J. DAVID

Rhythm & Lead Guitar / Vocals

Selwyn Joseph David was born and raised in San Francisco, CA.  Growing up in San Francisco during the ’60s, he was surrounded by a variety of music venues. His own family was very musical as well. His Uncle Haskell Solomon played violin in the Hollywood Symphony for many years. Selwyn's mother was also a very talented violin player.

Selwyn started by playing trumpet in his elementary school band, inspired by watching Louis Armstrong on TV.  Selwyn never learned to read music, he has always used his unique ability to hear the music in his head and then just play it.  In 1972 he gave up the trumpet when he went to Winterland in SF and saw Albert, BB, and Freddy King (the 3 kings) play live. After that show, he picked up a guitar and hasn’t put it down since.  He has played in a variety of bands as lead guitar and bass for rock, blues, and reggae genres as well as forming his own groups.

Selwyn has inspired many people in his years of playing, offering music to both young and old simply by his enthusiasm and love of music and the healing of the soul of which music offers to any who are willing to listen.

Today Selwyn now composes, writes lyrics, and sings the music of his heart.
